System Information

iostat

Reports CPU and block device I/O statistics.

iostat helps diagnose disk throughput, utilization, and wait behavior. It is often provided by the sysstat package.

Syntax
iostat [options] [interval] [count]

Arguments explained

  • Options adjust output or behavior.
  • Arguments name the files, services, hosts, or values the command should work with.

Common examples

Extended disk stats
iostat -xz 1 5

Shows extended I/O stats every second for five samples.
