unzip

Extracts or lists ZIP archives.

unzip reads .zip files and can list contents, test integrity, or extract files.

Syntax
unzip [options] archive.zip

Arguments explained

  • archive.zip is the ZIP file.
  • -l lists contents.
  • -d chooses destination directory.
  • -t tests archive integrity.

Common examples

List before extracting
unzip -l archive.zip

Shows files inside the ZIP.

Extract to a directory
unzip archive.zip -d extracted/

Extracts files under extracted/.
