sftp

Transfers files through an interactive SSH file session.

sftp provides secure file browsing and transfer over SSH.

Syntax
sftp [user@]host

Arguments explained

  • Options adjust output or behavior.
  • Arguments name the files, services, hosts, or values the command should work with.

Common examples

Open an SFTP session
sftp alex@example.com

Connects to the remote server for file transfer.

Upload inside sftp
