more

Displays text page by page.

more is an older pager for reading output one screen at a time. less is usually preferred, but more exists almost everywhere.

Syntax
more [options] file

Arguments explained

  • file is the text file to view.
  • +number starts at a line number on many systems.

Page through a file
more README.md

Displays a file one screen at a time.

Use with a pipeline
dmesg | more

Pages through kernel message output.
